2027 Call for Abstracts
The 2026 ANZGS Congress is inviting structured abstract submissions on all clinical and scientific aspects of glaucoma. Submissions may include case reports, surgical techniques, photographic essays, videos, and poster presentations. Accepted abstracts will be eligible for various prizes, scholarships, and bursaries. Abstracts must be submitted by 13 November 2026, and presenters will be notified of acceptance early December 2026, along with presentation guidelines.
Submission guidelines
Abstracts must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document using the supplied template dependent on which type of submission applies.
Submissions are uploaded via the submission portal
Formatting requirements:
– Single-spaced
– 12-point Arial font
– Maximum 300 words
Author details to be listed below the abstract title, including:
– Author(s)
– Affiliated institution(s)
– City and country
For multiple authors:
– Underline the presenting author
– Or underline the corresponding author for Panel Discussion abstracts

Scientific/Research and Evidence Based Review Submissions
Abstracts should use the following headings: Aim, Methods, Results and Conclusion. Abstracts without results will not be considered.
SCIENTIFIC/EVIDENCE BASED ABSTRACT TEMPLATE
Case Presentation Submissions
Case presentation abstracts should briefly summarise the clinical case without including a literature review, although relevant learning points may be highlighted. Authors whose submissions are accepted will receive guidance from the session chairs on how to format their presentation. Each case presentation will run for 9 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion, with sessions designed to be interactive and to provide a valuable learning experience for all participants.
Key guidelines:
– The title should not give away the diagnosis
– The case is presented as a rolling case with small snippets of information given and questions for discussion are asked
– The more complicated the case, the better
– If presenting videos, make them short and to the point
– A final diagnosis or twist in the case is left to the end
– No literature report or summary is required, although you should be familiar with the literature to enhance the discussion.

Didactic/Instructional and Panel Discussion Submissions
Didactic/Instructional presentations are an opportunity to educate and/or provide an update on a clinical or non-clinical topic relevant to ophthalmologists with an interest in glaucoma.
Abstracts should be structured to include the learning objectives and an overview of the material to be covered.
Panel discussions enable a panel to discuss and debate topics or cases relevant to ophthalmologists with an interest in glaucoma. Panel members should be listed as abstract authors, with the corresponding author to be underlined. Abstracts should be structured to include learning objectives and an overview of the topics or cases that will be discussed by the panel.
DIDACTIC/PANEL ABSTRACT TEMPLATE
Film Festival Submission
The abstract should include a description of the film to be presented and a conclusion.
Film Guidelines
– Your film must contain an interesting, challenging or complicated case(s) that was encountered by the presenter. New techniques or innovations are also suitable subject matter for films. Uploaded films will be checked for duration and adherence to format.
– Finished films must be no longer than three minutes and can include both music and voice overs.
– The presenter must be present at the meeting to discuss and answer questions at the conclusion of the film.
– The coveted ANZGS Crystal Trophy will again be presented to the winner.
