Activities

Hobart is well known for its cultural, dining and nature experiences.

The organising committee have put together options to do during the afternoon activity time. These are optional but a great way for you to get together with other attendees outside of sessions and relax.

Activities will not be available to book through the congress registration site but bookings will be made directly with the providers. See details below.

Friday 16 February:

For people who have to fly in the day prior we have a great option for you to go on the Hobart History People and Places Tour run by Hobart Walking Tours.

The tour will run from 9am to 11am with enough time for you to come back for our starting session.

Saturday 17 February:

A trip to Hobart wouldn’t be complete without experiencing Mona, The Museum of Old and New Art but make sure you’ve done your homework and know what’s on display!!

The trip to Mona is an experience in itself with a 25-minute ferry ride on the Derwent River.  The Ferry departs 1.15pm from Brooke Street Pier and a return ferry is available at 4pm allowing you time to make it back for the afternoon ANZGS Session.  The Brooke Street Pier is a 10-minute walk from Crowne Plaza.

Bookings are required to visit the Museum and the Ferry – https://mona.net.au/visit

(Note: This is a public ferry system and times are subject to change by the operator).

For those who want to get active consider the Mountain Biking down Mount Wellington.

A shuttle can be booked from 473 Macquarie Street, South Hobart at 1pm.  Choose to stop at either Fern Tree Tavern, The Springs, or Mt Wellington for a 1-to-2-hour downhill bike ride.

There are very limited seats on the shuttle so book early here: https://www.tasmba.com.au/ride-hobart/

Don’t forget Salamanca Markets are open on a Saturday from 8.30am to 3.00pm.
